What is the correct ECU choice in the ecu drop down for the mxl2?

Well I picked the right one but now I have no connection from the laptop to the mxl2.

When you select this, "Save" and then "Transmit" to the dash, it reboots, and you lose the connection for between thirty seconds and a minute. It'll go.
The "Connected Devices" disappear, then reappear. It's all good.

I got it now. I think this older PC is starting to have a bad USB connection!
