Jerry - For what it’s worth I have not done anything with this but it might apply to your idea. If I remember correctly, in the alarm drop down menu you can select GPS and in one of the < > = sub menus you can input variables for latitude and longitude coordinates. You may (maybe not) be able to use this for position data and program in a LED light to turn on. I haven’t tried it but it might work.

You can put it the GPS Speed or # of Satellites as a condition, but it won't let you put in a set of coordinates. You could use this for a pit speed limiter (i.e. turn on all the lights flashing when under the pit speed) or something similar. It won't work with coordinates.

Bill

That is exactly what we need in the futeure. Today they only offer spped and number of satelites. This is not something I'd bug AIM about, but I think it will happen eventually. For now, I am happy to be able to use the alarm lights for multiple functions

Bill,

The reason you recall this is because in prior versions of the RS3 software you could select lat and long coordinate channels to create or be a part of creating alarms but that ability has been removed for now (since 3.04.07 released on Mar 12, 2015). I do not know if/when it will return.

Roger - I thought I was in the early stages of dementia. Because I am not at home I could not confirm what I thought I knew. I believe I have a screen shot saved of that very screen function. Bring your best game on April 18th & 19th, I'm ready with a lot of questions.

For those non believers. I think part of the problem is AIM is hesitant to allow drivers to treat GPS coordinates as real time data for fear of the data being wrong and the potential for disaster in certain situations like using it for brake markers, as I was considering. Just my guess why it's not there anymore and Rogers insistence on not using the data that way for safety reasons. I'm not sure if it even would have worked because I never got a chance to try it!

Bill, I must admit that after our discussion I did ask the programmers to pull the capability until (and if) we can figure out a better way to use the powerful geofencing ideas that will certainly add value.

That's all great, but I can't even get the gear calibration to run on my MXL2... any hints?

Call Robbie at the AIM Sports Lake Elsinore office, but make sure you are running RS3 3.04.08 and 1.12.50 firmware on your MXL2, FIRST!

Mine has never run right on my MXG. I saw some 5 and 6s on the screen at times my last event but they weren't right. That was even after Josh at Aim worked on my car a COTA before the event. Hoping they get it fixed soon.

That is something that has been addressed on the firmware since 1.12.44, released 3/18. Check that you have 1.12.50 loaded on the dash and 3.04.08 software. Number one!

I tried and tried to get the gear calc to work last weekend, running RS3 3.04.08 and 1.12.50.

I couldn't get it to work. I sent my config to Robbie and he rebuilt it, claiming it should now work.
