MXG seems to lock out left side buttons after engine start?
Having an odd issue with my MXG 1.0. I've noticed that the display seems to lock out the function of the buttons on the left side of the display after the engine is started. Odd part is that if the key is just set to the ON position where the display is powered up and receiving power, the buttons on the left side work both on the display and on the remote buttons. I am able to navigate all of the options. Once the engine is cranked over and started, the buttons on the left side of the screen seemingly no longer function.
I do have the remote button interface for the MXG as well, and the buttons that duplicate the function of the left side buttons also don't work after the engine is cranked and started (except the remote button that directly controls screen brightness).
The MXG is powered by a relay receiving 12V directly from the battery. The relay is triggered by the same power wire that runs the ECU, ensuring that the relay (and the MXG) keep receiving power during engine cranking. I have it set up this way because of how long the MXG 1.0 takes to "boot up", and I need the MXG to be awake immediately after engine start because it manages certain aspects of my CANBUS network involving backpressure compensation for my wideband O2 sensors which is sent to the standalone ECU for use with closed loop lambda trim.
As a result, I can only access track, odometer, etc. info *before* engine cranking/start. On the other hand, I can use the buttons on the right side of the display before or after cranking, as long as the display has power. I also am able to adjust the screen brightness of the display via the remote button interface at any time, and this is the only function I am able to adjust related to the left side buttons after the car is started. I'm just not able to access any other details from the display that are accessed from the left side of the display once I turn the key to power on, wait for the dash to boot up, and then crank the engine over to start it.
I thought initially that the issue is being caused by a bug in the configuration, but I have tried cooking up a new configuration from scratch, but the issue still persists. The display is running the most up to date firmware, etc.
Quirk using the remote button interface?
Any suggestions?
Thanks for your time and assistance.

Thanks so much for the clarity, gentlemen. Yes, I do have my display set to record as soon as the engine speed is over 10rpm (i.e. when the engine is cranked over to start). I actually had no idea that I had never had access to that side of the display while the car was running until now. Just noticed it lately that I could not reset the trip counter when on the move, and thought it was something software/bug-related. Now I know why the remote interface button has a button dedicated to just resetting the trip counter.
