Default AiM MXL Help...

Hello all,

I have a new to me 2003 996 GT3 Cup that has an AiM MXL and SmartyCam HD 2.1. I have tried to connect to the AiM with my computer (just acquired a new computer for the track and downloaded RaceStudio 2 and 3, and the computer says that it doesnt recognize that I'm connected to a device (yes, the power of the car was on and that AiM on... ).

Is there something here that I'm missing and need to be doing differently ? I'd like to be able to get this set up.

Also, I did connect with the SmartyCam and seemed like I was able to load tracks into that, but want to be sure that the MXL and Smarty are "talking" to one another and not something else I need to do with the Smarty as well.

Any help / thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you !

For the MXL Pista, you need RS2. Does the computer beep for a connected device when you plug into the dash?

This is a good resource https://www.aim-sportline.com/downlo...on_100_eng.pdf

Also make sure you have all the firewalls off and no virus software that is causing a problem.

Hey Matt - Thanks for this. I dont recall a beep or not when connected. Thanks for the link. While clicking around I saw something on a Firmware update (but that says to run RaceStudio 3). Also, I think the configuring of the display is in RS3...

Configuration and track loading for the SCHD is done in RS3.

Configuration, downloading and clearing memory in the MXL Pista is done in RS2 (usually doesn’t have more than about 2:45 of record time with only 16 MB of memory).

Not uncommon for the cords (3.5mm male to USB A) for the MXL Pista to fail. I’d try that first.

And, if memory serves me correctly, aren’t there two different cords for the MXL depending on the year?

The 3.5mm is the common one. The other was a one year off cable that is fairly rare. I tell people to get this https://trailbrake.com/bulkhead-usb-...b-719-4-pin-m/ instead of another cable.

3.5mm "stereo" phone plug. You can make your own from this: eng.cdr (aim-sportline.com)

Buy the bulkhead adapter and be done. Then you use the USB mini cable that every AiM user has.
