Default CAN Bus location for 2017 718 Cayman S

Has anyone spliced into the CAN bus on a 718? I just picked up a VBOX, and it looks like the latest instructions they have are for a 981. 718 Has OBD and what looks to be CAN in a different location, but want to see if anyone else has done it before I go poking around.

Have not tried it yet for VBox on a 718. But On an Aim unit the OBD now has a can feed.
so you could either look and tap into the CAN wires that feed into the obdII port or try the obd adapter VBox has.

Maybe Peter or someone with a 718 has a better anwser.....but you should be able to grab a connection in the OBDII port

For your Aim does it do brake pressure over OBD? That's mainly why I was going with CAN, but if I can get throttle and brake over OBD that will be great.

Working on this now for the VBOX HD2. We have pretty much most except brake on the scene, but I haven’t looked at the individual measures. We have done a harvest, though, so we should be able to work that out shortly.

We also did a test using 991_981 CAN to a 718 S in Colorado, and as far as I can tell, brake pressure is good. So is most of the other measures.

It’s important to realize that the HD2 and the AIM connect to different buses, so the message ID’s, scale and offset will be different for each.

I'm at a loss about what I need to do to proceed. I have a 718.ref file that Racelogic sent me that should work for the 718. I believe I have spliced the correct cables as I'm logging CAN data to an .asc file on the SD car. It looks like this:

date Thu Oct 29 12:25:02 AM 2020
base hex timestamps absolute
no internal events logged
0.0000 1 81 Rx d 8 EB 9A 83 24 92 18 22 FF
0.0010 1 105 Rx d 8 CA 0A F8 23 A0 64 37 EC
0.0020 1 3BF Rx d 8 80 FF 00 00 00 00 08 00
0.0030 1 B0 Rx d 8 FC AD 08 00 00 7E 1F 02
0.0040 1 86 Rx d 8 66 2C BD C2 0B 7F A7 60
0.0060 1 80 Rx d 8 0B 3B C9 24 1D B8 73 8

However, when I make a scene and choose CAN data for either the throttle, brake, or RPM gauges, nothing shows up. Is there a step I'm missing in pulling in the data?

I have all channels on a 2020 718 GT4 last week using the template. Contact Jim Lau or Martin Papps.

I really only do diagnostics on cars that I can test on my own.
