VBOX HD2 - 60fps with latest firmware update
Hi all,
Racelogic just released their 60fps firmware update (version 1.3.79.1) for the HD2. A word of caution: I had an opportunity to try it out last weekend during an AX event. Unfortunately, I got mixed results. 2 of the 3 runs I recorded had encoding glitches and the video was out of sync with the recorded data. For the video I used high-quality settings and 60fps. You might have better luck with the medium quality settings. My guess is Racelogic is stressing the system with 60fps encoding and it can't always keep up - there is a reason they waited this long to release the firmware. In the meantime, I filed a ticket with Racelogic last week and they're looking into it. I'll update the thread once I know more.
If you're interested, you can check out the video with the glitches here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=14d...XTMQhC-AgNdGGG

What card are you using? Is your antenna in the right place? I’ve done a couple hours of video on three different machines and no issues, but I am not recommending 60 FPS for most users. If you’re doing it to play back video slow-motion, great. For regular playback, no benefit, IMO.

I believe it's a class 10 SDHC card (the one that came in the box?) , which should be able to handle the required write throughput at 1080p60. Yes, fully agree that for analysis, 30fps is more than enough.

Might want to load 1.3.79 again, just to be sure. I have seen this before in 30 fps files, but usually due to dropped frames from EMI on camera leads and/or GPS dropout.
Let us know what the response is to your service ticket. Thanks!
