Bought a Solo 2 DL a few months back and gave my buddy my Solo DL. A couple of weeks ago we do Sebring and I offer to set up the DL
for his 997. I open RS 3 on my computer and connect by USB ... no joy. Computer doesn't see the DL , it does see my DL 2 on the wi fi .

Is RS 3 capable of recognizing the old Solo's and DL's or do you need to maintain RS 2 and more importantly how long will AIM support the old programs and protocols ?

PS I really wish the 2 series had hardwiring as an option. Wi Fi can be a PIA on any given day...

The original Solo DL MUST USE RaceStudio 2 for configuring, downloading, updates. It MUST USE GPS Manager for track management.

The Solo 2 MUST USE RaceStudio 3 for configuring, downloading, updates. Track management is included in RS3.

RaceStudio 2 is included with every download and update of the RaceStudio 3 program, so you're set!

Yes, you can run 2 SCHD. They each run separately though, so it is not picture in picture, but both can have whatever data overlaid you want.

To clarify what Peter said. RS2 is the program to use. RS2 and GPS manager have been stable releases for a long time and there are no updates planned (that I know of or have even been suggested). No new protocols will be added to the devices (Solo DL, MXL Pista/Pro, and Evo4) that are set up with RS2.

I miss not having the wired connection on the Solo 2 device as well.

The good thing about all the recognized brands I carry, VBOX, MoTeC and AiM is that they all run and support hardware that is fifteen years old, at least.

So, no worries on that front.

I think the caveat that Peter is talking about is some people have had trouble with charging when running 2 cameras. I personally have not had this problem and ran 2 SCHD this weekend on a system. To head it off, you can get a supplemental power cable that includes a diode to provide the additional charging capacity on the AiM CAN network. Any dealer can provide that cable.

I supported a car with one GP and one refulareach and didn't have the problem and it's been running that way for years, but different t cars are different.

Hopefully we answered any questions the OP has and he can get his system configured how he wants.
