AiM RS3 unable to get web updates
I have been unable to get any web updates directly through RS3. This holds for both software and firmware. There is a reference to this problem on the AiM FAQ for RS3, with a suggested fix. But I am using Windows XP in virtualization on a Mac. The AiM suggestions for their fix apply to more recent operating systems. They don't work with XP.
I don't care so much about updating software. That's easy enough to do by downloading the latest version and installing it. But I can't update the firmware for my devices (MXL2 and SmartyCamHD) without using RS3. Does anyone know of a workaround for this? My last resort is finding a pal at the track with a more up to date laptop and updating my firmware by borrowing that.
I did contact Roger Caddell about this but he didn't offer a fix other than what is on the AiM FAQ.

"The next RS3 release will likely be our last version officially supporting XP."

Correct. This was communicated to the support network in response to a question on errors generated in hardware configuration in RS3 using Windows XP in July of 2018, with the release of RS3 3.22.00

Yes, it was on the google group July 16-17, 2018. You should have a copy. If not, I sent it to help your memory.

I need to stick with XP due to some legacy applications I use for business that are not compatible with more current versions of the Windows OS.
Do you know how I might be able to get an earlier version of RS3 that still had support for XP? If I can't get find that then I guess I'll just have to update my devices from a friend's laptop while at the track. Not a huge inconvenience.

Have you seen https://www.aim-sportline.com/downlo...or_100_eng.pdf ? It's not clear which OS it applies to but it looks like it could help.

I am totally sympathetic, but XP is not safe unless it's in a black box.
I ran XP for eons. I knew it was insecure and vulnerable, but it worked. So I ran it in a VM that had NO network connectivity. ZERO connectivity is pretty much the only way to make XP secure.
When RS3 came out with its requirement for internet access I had to retire XP and switch to Win10.
XP is an antique and not at all safe if it has ANY connectivity. If you have APPS that require XP, run THEM in a VM with no internet access and something modern with vendor support & and AV for anything else. Win10 can even run a VM if you want.
However you want to do it, you cannot run RS3 with XP - not because AIM has dropped support for XP but because RS3 needs connectivity.
