Default Issues with MXL2 and SCHD

When I first installed these everything seemed to work fine - this was mid last year - but starting the beginning of this season I have had the following issues:

1) No data is being saved to the MXL2. I have updated to the latest firmware and deleted all old files but still no data. Also, prior to no data, the data that was saved was all one lap - if the session was 25 minutes it would be saved as a 25 minute lap. It would do this even though the display would flash a lap time at start/finish - this lap time also shows up on the SCHD video. I do have the track maps loaded.

2) The SCHD shows a running session time and only flashes up the lap time at start/finish versus having a lap time and a lap counter - as with the MXL2 the SCHD only shows one lap and never a lap count. Again, I have the maps loaded and the lap time is shown briefly at start/finish. I also updated the firmware recently.

3) The brake light on the SCHD video display does not function - it is just off. I have tried changing from bar to psi but this did not work.

Here is a link to a couple of laps from WG this year - right after the restart of the enduro:
You can see the Lap 0 count, the continuous running time.except at start/finish and that the brake light is out.

Any thoughts on what to try or advice would be appreciated.
John

Should I just call AiM support? Can anyone comment as to whether this is something easily fixed in the setup or if this is a return to AiM to be fixed item?

If no data is being recorded, then the start triggers sound wrong? What does it list on the parameters tab of the config?

I would delete all the tracks in the system and reload the ones you drive at. Make sure they are in the dash for the timing and in the SCHD for the overlay.

For the brake light, make sure the SC tab in the MXL2 config is correct showing brake pressure (assuming you get it from the car). Then on the SCHD setup, make sure it is showing brake pressure. If you dont't have brake pressure, set it to long g and then use a max of 1.2(ish).

Hope this helps and get's you going.

When I run into these issues,

1) I download and install the latest version of Race Studio 3 (we’re up to 3.23.01),

2) I connect the device and update the firmware (been a few significant bug fixes recently)

3) I “receive” the config that is in the dash and save it as that date and append “old” to the name, for backup.

4) I build a NEW configuration, going through EACH and every entry, ECU and analog channels, sampling rate, alarm trigger value, shift lights, display field, SmartyCam stream channel and most importantly, every field in Parameters. Then I save it under the date and append “new” to the name.

5) Then I transmit to the dash, careful not to close the program before it tells me that it’s besn successful.

6) under tracks, I select the device tab on the right and Delete ALL of them. Then, I build a smart list (or just select the 150 or so) of Aspalt, closed, car tracks in North America (USA and Canada) and Transmit to the dash (and the same list to the SmartyCam, later).

7) I do the same thing with the camera.

You might need brake position, with the max value of 1 (instead of 100 by default), for a brake switch, if that is selected on your SmartyCam stream from the dash), depending on the car you have.

I am sure it’s frustrating, and ideally, your selling dealer should be the first place to call for this kind of support, but there are now thousands of this combination out there, many of which I work with EVERY day, tthat function as they should.

Keep is posted...

Thanks guys. I will be at the track this weekend (Gingerman) and will start with these suggestions. I run a SPC and this is the first time I have had an issue with AiM equipment. I previously ran (my wife runs it now) a 993 with a MXS and SCHD and never had an issue except when a sensor failed. I am running a separate brake sensor with the SPC, but other than that it is all through the CAN bus.

Thanks again
John

Then make sure the SmartyCam stream in the MXL2 config for Brake Pressure is set to your sensor and that the SmartyCam config brake bar is set to Brake Pressure with measures in psi and maximum (as a test) at 600 psi.
