Default 1990 964 C2 Targa Paint Correction | TLC Auto Detail | Northern, VA

Hey everyone! We got to work on a fun older P car today. This 911 had been sitting in a garage for nearly 20 years . Recently the owner had the engine overhauled so it could be driven and enjoyed again. After the mechanical work was completed they wanted to see how much improvement could be made to the faded paint. When the vehicle showed up to our shop the paint was cloudy, flat, and riddle with swirls, buffer trails, and light scratches.

To start we performed an in depth decontamination wash to remove all of the built up dirt and grim from the surface. After the vehicle was dried we could see the true condition of the paint. The hood was by far the cloudiest, but all of the panels were covered in defects.

After taking paint measurements we decided a single step correction was the best course of action to achieve great results without removing too much clear coat.

In some areas we were able to achieve up to 75% correction while others improved by 40%-50%. We were however able to restore gloss and clarity to every inch of the paint, giving it new life.

After the paint was corrected we applied Swissvax Mystery to all of the painted surfaces for great protection and amazing depth and gloss.

Looks good. What did you use for single step polish?

Thank you! After a couple test spots we settled on Meguiars M205 on a Lake Country MF Polishing Pad.
