GP Automotive Renewal Service: Phase3/Paint Correction - asofine's 993 C4S
This all started with a thread back in October when we finished our documentary video. An avid Porschephile, asofine, began inquiring about our renewal service. One of his three 911s happened to be in SoCal and we decided to take her on as a project. I hope you enjoy the journey as much as we did.
Typical dust and grime on seat rails. We lift up seat to clean rails
Engine cleaned using a safe citrus-based cleaner
Wheels cleaned using a safe pH-balanced Gel wheel cleaner
Wheels further cleaned using a unique polishing soap. We don't use any harsh chemicals or acids
Natural lambs wool mitt rinsed, then panel is rinsed
All glass surfaces are clayed as well as the paint
Notice how yellow the stone guard has become over the years
Parts are skillfully removed and cataloged for re-installation. This is where having a Porsche specialist is a must. Not only can parts not mysteriously go missing, but everything has to go back to pre-removal condition...just cleaner
Tools of the trade. Ultrasonic paint depth gauge lets the technician know how much paint is left on the metal. This paints a picture of current condition and health of paint, while letting technician know how much material can safely be removed to achieve the best possible paint appearance
Paint cleanser is then applied after correction. This pre-preps the paint surface for carnauba wax

I must say that your work is incredible! Hats off to you. Can you mention the approximate cost of having such detailing done either here or in a PM.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Another one saved! Great work.
Why did you select carnauba wax? For the "warmth" and "wet look"? Did you layer the carnauba wax over a sealant? Thanks.

I chose carnauba for the warmth and that was also consistent with what the client was looking for. No need for sealant as this particular carnauba, zymol vintage, is very durable. We did layer it three times to achieve the "look" and durability. That's the most optimal amount of layering IMHO.

Thank you Sir
Porsches have an amazing ability to be transformed back in time with proper technique and product use. I can't explain it, but we have so much fun working on them for that reason

To us, this is art and expression of our passion and soul. It may sound unusual in this day and age.
I guess you gotta wonder, did people ask Rembrandt or Monet how much it cost to paint?
This video may sum it all up:
