You've seen it being used by many of the pros now be able to get your own.

These are great on orbital polishers as well as the rotaries.

We have been using them with great success with the microfiber pads, Uber Green, and Uber Blue Pads.

Here is a 50/50 shot of an SL55 that we did with 5/5 and 3/6 - using the Griot's with a Microfiber Cutting Pad with 5/5 and Uber Green Pad with 3/6

How does this compare to the P21s paintwork cleanser? Love all sonax products I have tried.

Like any polish it is pad dependant. Like Phil, I use it with a MF cutting pad and finish with White or Black Lake Country foam. I am using a Flex 3401. It cuts as good as 105 using the MF cutting pad. It is not nearly as dusty or finicky as 105. 105 is a great product but can sometimes be a total pain in the ***.

I usually restrict my 105/205 usage to domestic cars. I find that it works better with those paints. On foreign cars I have better results with the Sonax, Menzerna and HD Uno lines.

Funny I also find both 105 and 205 to be a total pain in the rear but results are always stunning so I keep using them. What is even funnier is that since buying those two products I have managed to kill two Griots RO's. I cooked the motor on the first one (sparks and smoke!) and the shaft connecting the polishing head to the motor sheared on the second one. Griots has a new one coming out in a few weeks so I'm going to wait for it to be introduced before I send back for replacement.

Seriously, what is up with the Griots? I burned out a brand new one two months ago. They replaced it but damn, there are too many failing out there. I live and die by my Flex 3401 and PE-14. They have been flawless.

If I was detailing professionally I would also be using a Flex. The Griots is good for the novice or someone who isn't using the RO regularly and that is about it. I've been polishing cars for nearly 20 years now and I have a pretty idea of what I can and can't do with them. They just can't handle the intense polishing that someone with experience can dish out. If Griots wasn't replacing them for free I would just buy the Flex.

Bringing this thread back...

I just bought Sonax 5 / 4 (replaces the 5/5 referenced here by Phil?) as there are still spider webs on my 2000 5 series paint after using Sonax 4/6. I'm using a PC random orbital polisher and orange pads. If I can get 90% of the results that Phil got I would be thrilled.

Questions:
- Was the Griots machine also a random orbital?
- what speed setting should I use?
- you mention using Meg's 105 in the above detailing jobs - is it because Sonax 5/4 alone is not abrasive enough to get rid of those swirls and scratches?

Thanks
