I just bought a 2010 targa and the chrome strips around the doors (the targa only strips) have "water" marks that look like oxidation to me. I was planning to give the car a real head to toe cleaning tomorrow but was not sure how to clean the chrome. I was worried about most of the chem chrome cleaners. Also not sure if it is clear coated. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Joe

I have this same problem on my Volvo XC90.
Try a metal polish on a small section first to see if the chrome is clear coated or not. If your rag starts to turn black, then it is not coated and you're good to go. If it does not turn black (my guess), it is clear coated. You can try a mild polish or even moderate polish by hand but I have yet to find a procedure/product that has given me good results. It seems like the oxidation or water spots are under the clear coating...at least on mine.
Good Luck!
