Default What Products for Car cleaning for a Daily Driver

Got a Seal Grey Metallic 911, its a daily driver not a showroom car
I just want a nice looking car after I wash it and clean it and I would like the shine to last a bit.

I did the Zanio thing in the past, but that ran out and I fgured I would give some other products a try. Tried Klass and did not like it.

I have wash mits and a pile of white 100% cotton towels along wih the tire shine and glass cleaner.

Everything to be done by hand, have not bought the random orbtial machine yet.

So here is my shopping list so far

Sonax full effect wheel cleaner
Optimum Car Wash
Fine Clay bar
Optimum Poli-Seal
Optimum Opti-Seal Paint Sealant

What else do I need?

It all depends on how far you want to get into "it".

I'm finding it close to the addiction I have with my 951.

What ever your needs, Phil @ Detailer's Domain is a great source for information and also carries vast selection of brands...I personally prefer Adam's products.

Something I've found useful for our daily drivers is Spray Wax. So far I've tried Griots, Meguiars and Pinnacle. Pinnacle is the best but pricey. Griots would be my second favorite.

I don't have time to wax the DD's regularly so my routine includes a thorough wash. While drying the paint I spray the spray wax on the wet surface and wipe with a deep pile microfiber. Doing this makes drying easier, significantly reduces water spots, adds a nice shine, adds enough protection to keep the paint looking good and it makes drying easier.

I'm going with Opti Coat on my DD, which is a Dodge Ram Mega Cab PU. This thing is black and gets dirty AND has about 2 acres of paintwork. I want to do it and not have to go back for a while to shine it up again.

Your shopping list looks good. Optimum makes fantastic products. I would ditch the cotton towels and only use them to clean the engine bay. They are sandpaper on paint. Pick up some quality microfiber towels. Dont go cheap and get the Costco or Wal Mart ones. Get with Phil at Detailers Domain and get the good ones. Second, get a quality drying towel as well. The less you touch the paint the better off you will be.

Let me know if you have any questions. I am a pro luxury and sport detailer.

Thanks guys, I ended up getting the Griots DA as well, figured it would make things a bit faster and easier, Then I figured I would try the Autosrub instead of the clay. After that things got a little out of hand and somehow I passed the $500 point at Detailers Domain, oh well, its my dream car so it needs some love

Now I'll have to practice on the wifes toyota first

It doesn't take much to get to that price, I did the same a couple of months ago. It is worth the money though, the better products will show a significant difference in the end result.

I bought (from DD) a Griots DA, a couple of grades of Menzerna polish, P21S Caranauba wax, Adams car wash and clay kit, Sonax wheel cleaner, P21S TAW, and a pile of towels, sponges, brushes, etc.

I'm very happy with each of the products.

Well the practice car tuned out to be the BMW.

I washed and then ran the autoscrub over it. I was surprised at how shiny the car looked after just that.
I used the Optimum Polish II on the hood and trunk to get rid of some of the swirls I could see. Then onto the Optimum poli seal with the DA on the entire car and opti clear as last step. It came out looking pretty nice, not pro grade nice put still good for me.

I'll have to tackle the 911 when I get some time.
