Question WHICH WAX IS BEST?

...for a Black Metallic 993? I'm interested in ease of application and durability but if you think one looks best, please let me know. Thanks a bunch.

I do like the Blackfire products for black vehicles , also Dodo Juice products , the "hard" wax lasts longer .

It depends on how you rank ease of application, shine and durability. I use Ultima Paint Guard Plus. It is the easiest product to use. You simply wipe it on and walk away. It takes me <10 minutes to do my entire car. It gives a fantastic "hard candy" type of shine and has been very durable for me. If you are looking for a "warmer" shine, you should go with one of the carnauba waxes. They are not as easy to apply and they are not as durable, but they give a deep, warm shine. I sound like a fanboy with these posts for the UPPG, but I really like the product as it is the perfect combination of ease, looks and durability for me. Good luck!

Regards,
Frank A.

The prep work is more important than the wax.

Also, you can spend stupid money on wax too.
Less than $40. P21S Concours, Griot's B.O.S.
about $50 Sonax, P21S 100%
about $100 Pinnacle Souveran
More $$ Anything Swissvax and anything Zymol

Absolutely right, wax offers a very very subtle difference to the final appearance. Generally you gains some depth and a slight improvement in reflective qualities. The real magic happens with proper cleaning and polishing (leveling) of the paint before the wax is applied.

If you want more depth and jetness of colour, then a carnauba is the way to go. If you want lots of shine and gloss, then a synthetic is the way to go.

Any good quality carnauba will give you proper protection, durability, and ease of use.

Make sure to do a proper claying and polishing first. That's more important than the wax. If a surface isn't properly decontaminated of things like road grimme, sap, salts, pollutants from air, light oxidation, etc., then the best wax in the world isn't going to show the full potential of your paint's finish and the wax.

In my 16 years of detailing, I've always preferred a natural warmth and depth of a carnauba. I'm a purist and simply want to see the paint. There's still a nice lelvel of shine and gloss, but the depth is what does it for me. The best wax for the money IMHO, is P21S Cocnours wax or 100%. Simple to use, layer it and you'll get excellent durability, and each tub will do about 50 applications.
