Default staining from brake dust

I bought a set of used Carrera Classic wheels, for use with my winter tires. They have some staining from brake dust. What is the best way to remove the stains and shine the wheels up. I’m not looking for Concourse clean but the best I can get. I thought about using some polishing compound but I’m not sure how the paint on the wheels will handle it.
Thanks for any help

Follow these steps.

1. Wash with a wheel cleaner designed for painted surfaces. Wash using a soft sponge or mitt. Rinse thoroughly.

2. Take a small piece of clay and spray some quick detail spray onto the wheel and clay the wheels. This should remove nearly all of the surface break dust and majority of the embedded dust/debris.

3. Finish with a cleaner polish like Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish or similar. This will remove any material which can come off and also improve the shine.

4. Apply a wax or sealant to keep the dust out of the paint.
