Default Black Porsche 964 Polish

Hello, I recently purchased a nice Black 1991 964. The body and paint looked to be in good shape however in direct sunlight the swirls made it look like crap. I did a lot of research on this forum and others regarding the best way to remove the swirls and polish the paint. I decided on trying Meguiar's products based on availability and price. I found using the M105 Compound with the 7" Meguiar's Polishing pads and the 4" LC White pads removed most all of the swirls. I also used the LC Orange pad with the M105 on deeper scratches and swirls. After most all swirls were gone I polished the car with the M205 on the Meguiar's Finishing Pad and the LC 4" White Pad. I finished up with the Meguiar's NXT Wax. I think she ended up looking pretty good. I still need to figure out how to clean up the clear bra on the nose.

Below is a list of products I used to remove the swirls and some pictures...

Meguiar's G110 DA Polisher
Meguiar's W8207 Polishing Pad
Meguiar's W9207 Finishing Pad
Meguiar's M105 Ultra Cut Compound
Meguiar's M205 Ultra Finishing Polish
Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0
Lake Country Orange Pad
Lake Country White Pad

Amazing results. I saw the car in person yesterday and it looks spectacular. Now when should I bring over that case of German beer so that we can do mine?

No, I am pretty sure there is no clear coat on my car as the pads were black when I was polishing the car. I would expect the same results on your car but I forgot to add this took me 15 hours!

You have a single-stage paint if you see black in your pads. There is clear, it's just mixed in with the basecoat. Great work by the way. How's the durability on the nxt 2.0

Very nice work on the black!

M105/M205 are the only polishes I have been using since the beginning of the year. With the proper pads and techiniques I have not found a soft single stage or rock hard clear that I could not correct.

You forgot the key ingredient in your list of products you used for that fantastic shine. The number one thing, A TON OF ELBOW GREASE. Great job!!!

Cheers,
Larry

It's hard to beat black when done properly.

Thanks. The wheels are 18" FVD/Work Brombacher. I recently removed the clear from the lips, then polished them and had the center powdercoated. I was trying to match the silver Porsche center caps but it turned out a little lighter.
