Wow thats a new one. There definitely are several types of clay on the market and each has a specific use but to generalize the way he does is crazy. I hope this guy doesn't take up smoking while detailing!

For those considering clay, mothers, griots and other detailing type clays are not the equivalent to wetsanding. They are perfectly safe to use and an excellent way to remove surface contaminants. It is important to follow instructions to prevent introduction of new scratches.

Hacker, how can it be that your post count is over a million? Even in ten years of posting every day, that's still three hundred a day!

I think it's pretty common knowledge that posting more than 10 times a day is the same as wet sanding, so you must have worn through the body panels, by now.

Rub a wet piece of clay on your arm. Then run a piece of wet sandpaper. If you can't tell the difference, you're doing something wrong!

Clay bar vs. Wet sanding...The same? I guess he'd say smoking crack is the same as smoking pot...Or maybe that's just what he's smoking.

Claying your car is the safest way of removing embedded contaminants from the car's paint finish. Continuing to use a clay ball that has seen the ground a few too many times will do more damage to the paint than help.

+1...well-said. There are many different strengthens of clay and most that are on the market for the consumer aren't aggressive as sandpaper. There is so much misinformation on the web and guys like the one in the article don't help. Just make sure whatever advice you read and put into practice, you considered the knowledge and validity of the source. Good job guys for clarifying the misinformation for our fellow rennlisters
