Phil, I have some interest, although I'm a bit skiddish about touching my black paint. I have zero experience detailing.

Phil, I've had my black '89 911 for about a month. It has some very light swirls, but overall, the paint looks good. The paint does have some chips that have been covered with touch up paint (slightly raised). You've got so many items available on your site (in addition to hundreds available elsewhere), it's a bit daunting to know where to start. From reading, here is what I was thinking so far:

1. wet sand touch ups to make them level (never done this) ... if smart move, what do I need?
2. wash with optimum no rinse … I don’t have a lot of options other than a bucket wash due to the current water usage restrictions in Georgia
3. Clay Bar (never done this)
4. Clean Wheels (p21s gel group buy?)
5. Lusso Oro revitalizing cream and then wax? – hundreds of products available for this step – are these the best (easiest to use) for my application

Do I need a PC or similar device to get good results? What else am I missing (sealant?). We haven’t even discussed the interior yet. Exhausting.

wetsanding well I would really like to see the areas first.

onr is amazing stuff I use in on my cars now. its 20 degrees up here and I'm thinking about washing the car in the garage now. just make sure you have tons of microfiber towels (clean ones)

clay bar a good one would be great some will create some marring but if you are polishing you should be okay. (the swissvax paint rubber is great)

LUSSO is a great combo, you can also look at Swissvax Cleaner Fluid and Swissvax Onyx.

I like using carnauba or a sealant I prefer not to top coat a sealant but that's just me.

Menzerna FMJ or Einszett Glanz is a good sealant.

Do I need a PC or similar to get really good results or can I do this by hand? Is PC the way to go or would you recommend another product to a detailing amatuer? Thanks for your responses. By the way, I was going to buy Plexus to try and get scratches out of my cab rear window. Do you sell something similar that has had good results?

Default detailer in southern Cal

Hi Phil, Im always amazed when looking at pics of your work. I have a black 95 993 with decent paint but with your usual swirls and imperfections of a 13 year old car. I am tempted to buy this product, however im a total newbie in terms of detailing let alone using a power tool such as this. I recently purchased a
P21s kit with polish and wax and shampoo. the results were ok, but i feel that a full-on detail job like the one you recently did on the black 95 993 would bring my paint to life. My questions are: do you know of a detailer in southern Cali that uses quality products and has a reputation of quality work such as yourself. Second, how difficult or how dangerous is it for a newbie like me, to purchase and then use this porter cable kit you put together as a group buy to use on my black paint? Any advice from you or other Rennlisters in regards to local detailers is much appreciated.
