How do you get hardened pitch or sap off?

I brought home a 951 today and noticed random really hardened tree sap on the top surfaces. The blobs are pinhead size. So far I've tried WD-40, Goof-Off, and some brake cleaner on the hatch glass first just to test what will dissolve it...no luck yet. Any ideas. It seems way to hard for a clay bar to take off. Tomorrow I'll try mineral spirits, Xylene, and a nylon spatula. The car has clear coat so I'm no touching the paint until find something that comes highly recommended.
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks Anthony,
My wife does oil painting and turpentine is always available at home. I read on a detailing forum that sometimes it's neccessary to slightly polish the hard shell of the drops if it's really hardened to get a solvent to penetrate. These drips have been on the car for about 3 years but it was kept in a storage building most of that time after the sap got on the paint. I let you know how it comes out after I finish a head gasket job first.
