Whale tail rubber- Which product works best?
I have tried a number of products on the whale tail rubber of my '93 RSA and haven't found one yet that I'm totally happy with. The products used include: Black Again, Meguiars Rubber & Vinyl Cleaner, and a old Turtle Wax product called Black Chrome. I'm looking for something that doesn't leave streaks, swirls or have an overly shiny appearance.
Any suggestions?

I'll second the 303.
I had good luck with it on my RSAmerica's tail. I would normally spray it on, let it sit/soak in for a while, then go back and wipe it down.
I really miss that car............

I use Turtle Wax brand "F21 Super Protectant with Sun Stop" used to be also called "2001" and comes in a bright green bottle with a white and yellow spray top. Because the bottle looks a bit garrish, I would walk right by it and not give it a look. But our garage would use it to coat our dash and this stuff lasts and lasts. When I asked them what they used they told me about this stuff. I use it on my cars and coat all rubber trim and the tail on our 1989 928S4 and it gives the tail an even gloss with no streaks or swirls. Lasts well until it rains. The shine can be brought back a bit by a wipe down with a cloth until the next application. Make sure you wash and scrub the tail with a plastic pan scrubber, the kind with the foam pad inside a plastic webbing, and some dish soap before the first application. This will help take off most of the old dead rubber and other dressings that will not let the protectant go on evenly.
Hope this helps,

I just tried www.adamspolishes.com VRT & In & Out spray....both work great!!! I saw a demo with a 911 whale tale where they sprayed the In & Out spray into the vents....looked so much better..then a little VRT on the rubber....HUGE improvement!!

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I did find some 303 this past weekend and Iceman, based on photos you posted of the engine compartment of your 928 (very nice work) I ordered up some of the Adam's I&O spray. I look forward to comparing the results.
