I've seen several threads here where people have said that they intend to dye their faded convertible top, but nobody seems to have followed up to report how it went, what the best product might be to use, what to watch out for, etc.
I've seen recommendations for using vinyl dye on the top and I've seen recommendations for using canvas dye... still not sure if my top is vinyl impregnated or not, and it seems like an important question.
Anyone actually done this yet?
TIA!

I think some of the cab owners at 968.net have used something called renovo...if you post the question to the 968 specific board here you may get some responses...good luck!

I just dyed the top on my 944 cab with the Renovo product. Came out really well and made the top a much darker deeper black. You mask everything off and then paint it on with a brush. It is a little tricky because it tries to run off and you have to be careful around the plastic window. It reminds me of the liquid black shoe polish that comes in an applicator bottle. After the dye I then brushed on the Renovo water proofer. My top actually beads water now. I also used the Renovo plastic window polish to help cleanup the rear window.
