Default Ode to Joy!

You know, Joy, the dish washing liquid!

I tend to not wax too frequently (been 3 months). I use Blitz Carnuba wax, and find that as the weeks go by, my white car tends to look...more "off" white than it should. I normally wash with a gentle Griot's car shampoo.

Yesterday, I used Joy, hoping the dish soap would remove all the yellow looking old wax. BOY did it! The car looks like it was re-painted! The Joy took off all of the surface dirt that was built up on the wax (I guess?)!

Anyone else find that using dish washing liquid works great as a cleaner before waxing??

Well it's stripping off alot more than just your wax! Dirty dishes are different animals from a dirty car, unless of course you cook on your car and get greasy oils and fats on it....yuck!

Instead of using a dish soap to "strip" your Porsche just wash it as normal, clay the car and use a mild polish to properly clean the paint. Then wax it. Your car will love you and the enviroment will love you also

So I should remove the wax by rubbing a tiny piece of clay all over the entire car? Sounds like a ton of work. What harm could a "grease remover" do to the clearcoat?

I'm not questioning your skills as a detailer...I'm just ignorant!
