Can someone explain the difference between a "ceramic sealant" and a "ceramic coating"? Any information on these would be helpful. I am planning on doing something to my 992.
Thanks

In general if it's coming out of a spray bottle, it's a ceramic-infused sealant and not a genuine ceramic/quartz/glass coating. Not that the ceramic-infused sealants are a bad thing per se, there are some great ceramic-infused sealants out there that perfectly fit the needs of many users but marketing them as true coatings with extended longevity claims is a bit disingenuous. There is kind of a 'in-between' group of more hearty products that come out of a spray bottle and far outperform the majority of spray sealants, and example of which is Gyeon CanCoat, a 'coating-lite' product for lack of a better term.

That said, like many things there is no single best protection strategy that meets all needs and vehicle usage scenarios. For some folks wax is best, sealants address some other specific situations well and coatings excel in in a variety of areas...assess your needs, wants, budgets and how you plan to use your vehicle and proceed accordingly!

There are some fantastic and easy to use 'true' coatings available to the DIY hobbyist and we prefer the Kamikaze line for ease of use and overall performance. ISM 1.0 is notable for its tendency to produce a deeper, wax-like glow as opposed the the more sharp/candy gloss of many coatings while Miyabi is more of a sharp, reflective gloss.

If one wants to stay in the less durable but easier to apply ceramic environment, there are some great products for those needs as well. A few that we really like:
