additionally, I've only got ppf going back on the front clip. personally I don't know the difference between ceramic coating and hydophobic (which I don't even know what is)???
Ceramic coating causes the paint to be hydrophobic (bead water). So does wax or sealant. So I think Steve was thinking to put a cheaper sealant over the paint instead of coating. However, once it's in there, I don't think the cost to ceramic the hood or any of the PPF is going to be that much greater. I tend to just trust the shops in a lot of these instances based on their experience.

I believe the Columbus C & C is scheduled to be held at Esoteric on May 8th, always a great time. If you plan in dropping off on the 8th, look for a tall, lanky, goofy looking guy...that'll be me 😄

Ah, shame...always nice to meet virtual acquaintances in person but understandable given the circumstances. Will be looking for your car in any event!

Does removing old ppl leave a mess on the paint that has to be addressed by a detailer before applying new ppf?

While I've never done it myself (nor would I as I can barely remove Saran Wrap from a bowl of leftovers without making a mess) perhaps the following might give some insight. At the very least I'd think there would be some residual adhesive that needs removing.

Depends on how it's removed and how old the PPF is. In my experience, even with relatively recently applied PPF (1 year on the paint), yes, you're going to have some adhesive to remove.

Did ya get it dropped off? Picked ours up during C & C on the 8th, looked around and saw a few white GT3's there...noticed one with the GT3 RS decals on door...

Cayman came out beautifully...55% tint was a great choice too.

OP, your car came out incredible! The 997 GT3 RS is one of my aspirational cars. Esoteric will be finishing up my 987 Spyder next week, and I cannot wait to pick it up!
