Default Northern Wisconsin Indy?

My lovely wife has a 1997 986 as her “summertime fun car”. It’s still in really great shape considering the nearly 100,000 miles on the clock. I have a 356 that I work on myself and my daily is a 997.2 C4S that goes to the dealership. Her Boxster is in need of a clutch, and I figured “as long as its out” doing the IMS bearing. I’m generally not terribly tight with my money, but don’t want to pay dealership rates for a 23 year old toy car. I live pretty far north in Wisconsin. We used to have a good independent (Justin Engineering) but he’s retired and the shop closed. Anybody with any first hand experience with independents? Wausau would be the closest town of consequence. Madison is 4 hours south, Minneapolis is 4 1/2 hours west. Any advice appreciated.
Tim
