Intro: Newbie in Chicagoland
Hi everyone. Thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Nick and I just picked up my first Porsche. I've been periodically lurking these forums for a while but now I'm ready to say hi!
I've been involved in the local automotive enthusiast culture for a while -- up to this point, exclusively with Japanese tuner cars. I grew up watching my dad race Toyotas in the 80's and 90's which influenced me to get a 1995 Toyota Celica as my first car once I got my driver's license. From there I've meddled with other marques, most recently a Subaru which made 609hp/582tq at the wheels. As fun as it was (and as much money as I've poured into these projects), I've never had a car that really "did it" for me, but I'm hoping that this next venture will be different. I sold the Subaru nearly 3 years ago and I was planning to jump right into another project, but some life happened and I had to put my hobbies on the back burner for a while. 3 years later and I felt I was finally in a position to get back into something fun. I was looking at a lot of different potential cars, but I decided that the time was right for me to buy that "poster on my bedroom wall" car. I spent most of my childhood with the image of a Polar Silver 993 Carrera 4 hanging above my bed and I'm so excited to finally have my own 993 now.
I'm looking forward to meeting some of you and learning from you all. Cheers!

If anyone was curious: here's a few pics of my Subaru that I sold

Very-very nice! One of the best colors, too, Arena Red. A rare Aero II package to boot. Make sure you also introduce yourself in the 993 aircooled forum.

Join our local PCA, too. We have a strong contingent of aircooled Porsches.

Howdy- also in the Chicagoland area (Park Ridge). I've got a black 993S (used to be a 4S until it was converted). With the TFworks sticker on your car, you must be familiar with JDMChicago and might know synth19 who also has a beautiful iris blue 993. Welcome!

Sorry about that. You caught us during the few minutes we were updating the site. It’s back up and good to go. We’d be happy to consider your turbo if you’d like to submit!
