2019 Cayenne E-Hybrid – Sudden Transmission Case Failure @ ~50k Miles (No Warning)
Hi all,
I’m looking to compare notes with other 9Y0 owners.
Vehicle: 2019 Cayenne E-Hybrid
Mileage: ~50,000 miles
Condition: Garage kept, regularly serviced
The vehicle experienced a sudden drivetrain failure requiring transmission case replacement. There were:
At ~48,585 miles (July 2025), a “TRANS LEAK” was documented during service with reference to a technical bulletin, but it was not communicated as a condition that could escalate into catastrophic failure.
PCNA has declined goodwill assistance and was unable to confirm whether the failed component will undergo root-cause analysis.
I’m trying to determine:
This is not intended as a complaint post — I’m genuinely trying to understand whether this is an isolated event or something others have encountered.
Appreciate any technical insight.

The vehicle experienced a sudden drivetrain failure requiring transmission case replacement. There were:
- No warning lights
- No limp mode
- No progressive drivability symptoms
- No prior indication of imminent failure

I’m trying to determine:
- Has anyone with a 2019+ Cayenne (especially E-Hybrid) experienced similar sudden drivetrain or transmission case failure around this mileage?
- Was it confirmed as transmission case vs transfer case vs front differential?
- Were there warning lights or truly no advance symptoms?
- Was Porsche involved in root-cause evaluation?
- Was any goodwill participation offered?

heard a boom sound and transmission oil busted and came out. Was stranded as vehicle was inoperative.
Öncelikle geçmiş olsun!
Have you had your trans case ever serviced? There could have been a malpractice during the oil change. Although 958 trans cases were somehow problematic, 9Y0 trans cases have kinda proved to be reliable so far. The maintenance schedule for trans cases is quite tight in Europe, mine has been serviced twice at around 50k miles.
$43k is a rip off, though.
It’s just a good sign how important to have extended warranty for these cars.
