ah man she gone, definitely totaled.
a few months ago someone rear ended me, the only damage was two holes punctured by their license plate on the rear bumper and the final bill was $11k

Yeah, I'm not sure that $11k was spent on punching two holes in your bumper....What did the repair bill itemize out? These cars can require replacement of the crash structure in minor rear-end collisions.
That's terrible, Glad you're ok though. Cars can be replaced but the people inside them can't be. Say an extra Prayer tonight.
As for the car, that's totaled. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You don't want it back after a serious wreck like that. It'll never be the same.
From: northwest US, but also victoria b.c. and nyc
i don’t see an air bag deployment. it does seem like sub structure (or whatever the term is) is damaged - i will be curious if the ins. wants to repair or total it out. if nothing major is bent, it seems like since it is new it could be repaired.
thank god everyone is safe. nice to see these car can take a hit and have the occupant space remain intact.
Glad everyone's okay. Good luck with the insurance process. Curious what you mean by the other driver was going the wrong way - were they on a one-way stret?

B piller damage is an automatic total, plus you might have damage to the glass roof.
Thank you all for the kind words and well wishes, I really appreciate it!
I talked to the rep from the body shop to get a good understanding of the process. They will write an evaluation of the damage then get the car towed to my local Porsche dealership for the internal damage to get that looked at. Once they have those numbers then the insurance company will decide what to do after, whether it’s worth fixing or just totaling out.
The car does have a high salvage value so if the numbers climb up quickly they’ll just payout what the current market price is, similar year, mileage, trim…
They have to keep in mind that if it does get fixed there will be major diminished value to the vehicle (carfax and what not) so they have to compensate for that as well.
It may not be visible but there is severe damage to the rear wheel and the car has the dynamic chassis control and rear wheel steering, there is damage to the front wheel as well.
The car did get stopped by a tree stomp in the parking lot, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some underbody damage there.
I was turning into a bank’s parking lot with a one way entrance on one side and a one way exit on the other, the guy came out suddenly and very quickly to what was stop and go traffic on the main road, if it wasn’t us he would’ve surely hit someone else. I had suspicion of him being intoxicated but the officers who responded didn’t question that.
I’m just thankful that both parties involved walked away safely without major injuries. It could’ve been worse.
His insurance company put us in a Nissan Altima, big downgrade but it is what it is…
I would push for them to total it bc the car will never be the same ever again. And if you ever go to trade it or sell it, it’s going to be very very hard with the damages it sustained. Second hand buyer will most likely not buy it.
