In many cars tweeters are mounted on the dash and fire into the windshield (which is reflective to sound). That is a popular solution.
Folded Motion tweeter is Martin Logan's own name for what basicly is a Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter.
Here is a good description on how such tweeter works:

The patent on AMT tweeters have expired a few years ago and now several comapnies make them. They are similar in concept, but not identcal in design and execution.
You can get one from Dayton @ $60:
And $550 from Mundorf:
I have no idea who makes those for Porsche.
Burmester (the real home audio company) seems to like those drive units, as many of their models have them:

@Elberoth how is this effort coming i am highly curious. will there be any videos/pics of the install?
Everything should fit plug and play - the only challenge should be routing missing wires and then system coding.

here are the martin logan ones. if u zoom in u will see some of them are the 5 slot some are 7 slot. on their site the difference seems to be vertical dispersion. and they may cross the larger ones over at a different point. in a car being so close the 5 slot ones w the wider vertical dispersion makes total sense. i would guess even just swapping the 3 front tweets to the burmester ones would be an improvement if someone had the bose system.

I'm not sure how much is the Burmester option in the US, but I'm expecting to end up (with labor) at about the half of the factory cost in the EU.
Please note that I have bought most of the speakers and amp used on ebay.
BTW - most of the speakers cross match to 971 Panamera (as you can tell by looking on the part #s), so the supply of used parts is plentiful. The only rare parts are those A-pillar mids and covers, amp and sub, which are cayenne specific.

will they tell you the pin outs on the harness that connects the amp to the speakers? this would be good info for people that come after. i have added wires and pins to harness slots that were empty before. it isn’t too hard. knowing which position is what is the trick.
