Default Can't Program Garage Door Or Gate Code.

Purchased a 2019 Cayenne S and for the life of me I cannot get my garage door or gate remote programmed into the Homelink buttons. I have tried everything and just can't get it to respond. I had a hard time programming my prior 2014 but finally got the garage to work, but never the gate.
Any suggestions? Thanks

I think most people miss the step of hitting learn on the garage door opener itself. You program the opener to the homelink button and then the homelink button to the opener.

Finally after numerous attempts I got my 2024 TGT to sync with my Lift Master garage door opener. Trick was to point the remote at the PCM rather than the buttons on the mirror to generate the synchronize button. Then I pressed the rolling code button on the garage door opener, then pressed the synchronize button and then pressed the mirror button twice.

IIRC, the 20 or so HomeLink compatible residential garage door openers I've installed and programmed could support a limited number of remotes. Here's a link to a webpage that discusses this limit: https://outfitthehouse.com/how-many-...r-opener-have/

If you have exceeded this limit with handheld and in-vehicle remotes, it is necessary to clear the opener's memory and start over. Instructions for the opener should explain how to do this.

Is the gate opener HomeLink compatible? Some gate (and garage door) openers are not - especially commercial gate openers that have to serve many people. Consult the gate openers instruction manual.

To make it more fun, the included programming instructions were incomplete for two garage door openers I recently installed. It wasn't as easy as pressing the Learn button on the opener housing and further complicated by there also being Learn buttons on the wall controls.

Edit: I should have mentioned that the reason I replaced our garage door openers in 2022 was that the receiver on one of them was becoming weak and I could not program the 2022 Cayenne's HomeLink to it. The opener worked fine with the handheld remotes and the HomeLink in other vehicles. Maybe the Cayenne's HomeLink doesn't emit as strong a signal as others do. The cost of a new receiver for the opener was over $100 and the openers were already over ten years old. An added benefit is that the new openers link to my home WiFi network and allow the doors to be opened and closed via a phone app from anywhere.

Here is the HomeLink page: https://www.homelink.com
You can find there the list of compatible systems.
