Default Taller tires...against the grain

Hey picking up 2019 Cayenne S very soon.

Wanted to see if anyone has tried taller tires, stock height is 29.9-30.1 and I'm hoping to get closer to 31"+ or even 31.5"+. I know its against the grain among most. But having more tire underneath is bonus on my roads and backroads for me. Likely moving to a square setup with 19" (i believe thats the smallest wheel I can run).
The S spec I have does have Air suspension, so not sure yet at what point in low setting where any rubbing might happen, but obviously would like to be just shy of that point.

Anyone else gone to a taller tire?

thanks in advance!

I’ve been thinking about it…but moving to a 22” wheel and 285/40 325/35 in mps4s. Those sizes are 31” even, but it’s also an MO rated tire.

if you up your size, I look forward to the results. It looks like there is enough space to fit 31” or even slightly larger.

my space concern would on the inside in the front at full wheel lock. best way is to physically check or see if anyone has already tested. i have the 21s w the 285/45 front and 315/40 rear. i don’t have the air suspension so I don’t know if it makes sense for me to take a close look on my car at the space situation.

Look at my avatar. 255/60-19 square are 31.0" tall. No rubbing at any AS setting. Search my other threads for more details on which wheels and tires.

This is a second set of wheels for some light offroading. I hope to go to staggered 31s for street tires when my OE tires wear out (same sizes as 2024s).

Perfect info, thank you! Btw I saw in another thread you mentioned tire rack 19" Sport designs, do you have a link for those by chance (that site is a complete headache if you aren't looking for stock wheels and tires imo!)

Search wheels for a 2018 Cayenne S to see square 19 or 20s. These Sport Designs clear Base and S brakes. I have not had any issues with only 255s in the rear, even at highway speeds.

What is your mileage with this set? Was there any troubles?

I only have a few thousand miles on the ATs as I swap them on and off with the OE street tires depending on activities. They are awesome off-road aired down to 20psi. They are louder than OE on the street and I can feel the large tread blocks. Never an issue with grip or rubbing, just a bit of a growl.

They look awesome on our utility-focused Cayenne (not sport) and the 31” size fills the wheel well better. I will look for 31 vs 30 when I replace the street tires.

I’d like to do the same, but afraid to get problems with transmission or something else.
I know MY ‘24 cayennes have 31 inches wheels but not sure about modifications Porsche made to adopt the car for bigger wheels

AFAIK, no difference in engine, transmission, or other gearing between 2019-23 and 2024+ Base. Only difference is that 19s are not available on 2024s, likely because there are few 31” tall tires in staggered widths. I hope to put 255/60 and 275/55 Michelins on my OE 19s for street tires, but if I can’t find those, I’ll go up to 20s like the 2024 Base.

Hi Toma Nova,
I am a new member, just got a 2019 Cayenne Base with 275x45-20 in front and 305x40-20 in the rear. I would like to put some AT tires on the car for some slight off-road use (grouse hunting) and thinking of using 255x60-19 and 275x60-19 in front and rear respectively. Looking at the Toyo Open Country AT III and wondering if this set up is reasonable or I'm going to mess stuff up? I will likely run the tires from May through September and use the stock wheels and Pirelli Scorpion Snows during the winter. I'm in the Great White North (Canada so no option on the snows).
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks

off the top of my head the most important thing is that the tires are within 3% of each other on size for the AWD system. I just checked tire rack and 255/60R19 is 31.1” so there shouldn’t be an issue with fitting. You might have to go square because I didn’t see 275/60R19 as an option…only 255/55 and 255/60 in 19”.

I wonder if 18” wheels would fit for more options. But regardless of what you do the important thing is the diameter difference is below 3% for the awd system. Ideally basically the same diameter tire front/back. And keeping 31” height.

Thanks PLYR007, the 275x60 R 19 are in the manufacturer website but not easily found, I will be reaching out to the manufacturer and see which of their distributors have them.
I will be towing a boat and my research says that its ok to square up unless you are towing, so will try find tires that make the offset work.
Thanks again for the info.
