Default TollTag - Front Windshield

I have a new TGT and have placed my TollTag in the normal place - center of the windshield/below the rearview mirror - and it does not appear to be working.

The tolltag also allows for access to the building garage at work, that is how I realized I have an issue. I assume something in the windshield is blocking the signal. I have Thermally and Noise Insulated Glass.

Has anyone had this experience and/or is there a "special" place to mount the tag? I have not yet been able to review the manual and not sure how to locate a manual online.

TIA,

To the left and the right of the mirror, you'll see some colored dots. Those spots are where your toll tag can go.

Highly recommend the external tag. My internal was a hit and miss regularly in the “right spot” (thermal glass)

There is an "L" shaped mark on front passenger side of the thermal/noise windshield of my 2022 Cayenne base which I assumed was a guide for where a tag should be placed. My Kansas K-TAG works fine in this location.

Whether it works in this location may depend on the reliability of the equipment that reads it. Since toll road use payment tags have been introduced in Kansas only in the past year I'm assuming that the equipment is new.

I don't think it's happened but if the overhead reader can't read my K-TAG, I'm supposed to be billed based on my license plate number although at a higher rate.

I use ezpass when heading south for the winter. Worked great to the right of the mirror. No issues using in multiple states.

Be nice if k-pass and ezpass would get in agreement so both could be used on the other system. While the k-pass system is easy to make a payment it’s much better to use a transponder

be aware, for years i had a bad sticker. it took forever to get the state to agree. it just would not read like once every 5th time. finally they credited me for the bad sticker and i got a new one - never had an issue sense. i could have eaten the sticker cost, but it was the principle.

Thanks, not sure if we have and "external" tag option here. I would worry about it getting stolen.

Probably an issue with the thermal glass. Our tag works in that spot just fine on the toll tag readers in Houston and DFW.

Yeah, not clear why they persist with the tag. My EZpass transponder is over 10 years old and unlike Florida Sunpass from a decades ago, there is no indication it is working other than logging into the system.

Dotted area left or right side of mirror. NTTA tag works fine on my 24 TGT.
