Default CarPlay connection issues

My 2021 Cayenne seems like it has issues always connecting to carplay. I have an iPhone 14 pro - and it connects with no issues to my BMW. When I drive the Cayenne the connection to carplay is hit and miss. When it does connect it seems like it takes quite a while..it might be a minute or two after i have started the car that it will connect. Some drives it fails to connect at all. I can see my phone listed in the device manager setup - and if i click the various icons for phone/ipod/etc… it does nothing. The problems seems intermittent as sometimes it work fine, other times it does not. Is this something others have experiences?

on a handful of occasions my PCM has totally frozen and the screen locks. That has not happened a lot - maybe 3 times in total…and if i turn the car off and back on it seems to correct itself. i wonder if this is related to the CarPlay issues or totally unrelated.

any of you experiencing problems with carplay always syncing up to your phones???
