Hi ! Just took possession of 2020 Cayenne Hybrid which I really like but the one thing the car doesn’t have is seat warmers 🙄 How a car in Northern Utah come to this cold climate with that is really odd but hoping someone out there has installed an after market brand or has some links as to how to or which is best brand. Thanks in advance !
I seem to have deleted all the research I did around 8 years ago when I considered installing second row seat heaters in our 2014 Toyota van. From what I remember, the carbon seat heaters had become pretty generic with not much difference between brands. There were countless kits on eBay and Amazon. The better seat heater kits had rheostat switches instead of simple round ON/OFF or HI/LO/Off switches. The more I looked into it, the less I wanted to do the work myself. I interviewed a few local installers (Kansas City area) and only found one I would have trusted with the project if I had proceeded. I decided to forget about it due to the problem with routing the cables to the "long slide" middle seats which could slide back all the way to the rear seat cushions so that their ottoman foot rests could be fully extended.
I would think there would be plenty of aftermarket installers in urban areas of Utah unless the market has dried up. There may be less demand since even economy cars often come with front and rear seat heaters these days.
Search YouTube for installation videos if you want to do it yourself - countless videos there.. I'm a DIY guy but it isn't the easiest project for a first timer and it requires specialized upholstery tools (e.g. hog ring pliers). Most installers put install the switches on the front or front corner of the seat base. One of my friends bought a Chrysler van about 10 years ago with the stipulation that seat heaters be installed in the front seats. He told me that the aftermarket seat heaters worked fine and I noticed that there switches were of the typical round HI/LO/OFF type.
