Thanks for posting! Looking forward to test it once my order is delivered, but I’ll take it much slower than in the video until I can trust it. Tried it twice with my recent X5 this year and almost caused an accident both times when it tried to do a 90 deg park job on a busy highway when it was supposed to be parallel.
Assisted parking takes time to learn, it still requires user attentiveness. Initial vehicle position relative to curb and other vehicles is important, and the user needs to monitor the camera display and mirrors.
Once you get it, you got it! Great feature once mastered.
is it just me that i never trust the self parking? I always have this features in my car but never used it.
Nope it is just not you. I used mine (MB) once and I was lucky to intervene when it was about to ride the curb. Actually the tire was climbing the curb when I realized and hit the brake. Inspecting afterward, the curb appeared to be non-standard and a little lower than usual. So it did not see the curb. I've never used it again. Not even in an empty parking lot. I use distronic in traffic but with steer pilot off- that thing is just stupid for it's silly intention to follow cars even when said cars is not going in my direction.
Sounds like a winning feature to me: needs your full attention, and you might get a curb rash out of it. It's strangely similar to Tesla's Smart Summons feature, whose only function is to terrorize pedestrians, frigthen children, and entertain onlookers.
I had this on a couple BMWs and used it once. My wife hated the feeling of the car moving without interaction and hated when I would even think of using it. It's not that cool.
