Default PORSCHE CANADA CLEARLY SHOWS 22" w/4 SEASONS

The Canadian configurator CLEARLY shows the availability of 4 season tires with 22" wheels. The USA configurator is somewhat fuzzy on this. That said, I'm confident that this option will be offered in the USA.

I mean, I think the fact that there is an option marked "Summer tires for 22" wheels" and when you select a 22" wheel it's not automatically checked would pretty clearly indicate that the default choice is an all season. Be interested in seeing what they are. Tire rack does not indicate an all season in this size.

My 2021 Cayenne GTS w/ 22's needed to be replaced at 17K miles. Especially the fronts. OEM was Yokohama and since I was disappointed with the front tread wear, I called Tire Rack and went through all the options. Basically, no All Seasons (for the U.S.) in 22's. At least in a performance premium tire. Went w/ Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires. Of course very happy with the new tires, but will have to be cautious during colder months.

Yeah there are no 22 inch AS tires in stock sizes for the pre-24 Cayenne (unless you want to go with Nitto or some random Chinese brands). The 24 MY cars have different sized 22 inch tires compared to the pre-facelift cars. If you install those on your Cayenne your speedometer will be off.

just to clarify this - the Turbo GT wheels are not a different and there is still no non-summer selection available for Turbo GT 22s.

Hello there - I am also in Northern suburbs and curious to hear your experience driving with summer tires during winter. Obviously winter or all season is the way to go but is it really that bad around our area as long as you are not out during heavy snow storm (before the plows)? Thanks

On a side note, having same issues on my X7 with no all season's for the 22" shy of running non OEM tire size.

It's not that bad as long as you are okay with having zero grip, poor turning ability, and heavily compromised braking distance. Also depending on the temperature and specific tire, the actual compound can crack and disintegrate.

Pre ‘24 would read about 4% low on the speedo. Firstly, did Porsche do this to show improved fuel economy because the gearing is the same. Secondly, both my ‘16’s read 5% high on the speedo but haven’t checked my ‘22 so maybe the speedo is bang on with the new size assuming Porsche hasn’t changed the calibration to accomodate the new size. I would welcome an all season 22” for in between seasons even though I have snows on 19”.

Like many of you, it seems, I find the '24 Cayenne configurator a little ambiguous when it comes to what sort of tires will come with a new Cayenne. The consensus in this thread is that they'll come in all-seasons across all wheel sizes. But it's not exactly crystal clear that's the case. I have an email into my SA to inquire about the tire situation, see if he has or can get more information.

I am finalizing a build spec for a '24 Cayenne S allocation and was just searching for tires online. I am undecided between 21" and 22" wheels, thought seeing what options there are for each might help me decide. I have winter and summer sets of tires for my 911. But didn't want to bother doing that for the Cayenne. So was searching for all season options.

Anyway, at the moment, I cannot find any all season options in the required 22" sizes at TireRack of DiscountTire. Michelin, on their website, list stuff but it's not clear if that stuff available anywhere.

With 22s (285/40 F, 315/35 R), we get a half inch wider wheels w/less sidewall which, arguably, looks better and can, in many cases, lead to better handling. Plus I'm a fan of wider wheels, at least appearance-wise.

With 21s (285/45 F, 315/40 R), we get a slightly less wide appearance, but a bit more sidewall to cushion us on rough roads or over potholes. Handling might be very slightly negatively impacted. Maybe.

But tire availability seems like an important consideration that might outweigh any other 21 versus 22 decision criteria.

If my SA provides useful information, I'll relay it back to this thread.

This is accurate and not, as some might think, at all alarmist.

I mistakenly left a newish set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports in my detached unheated garage all winter one year after unmounting them. Following spring, I remounted them and drove on them and all four tires developed cracks all over and were shedding chunks of rubber from the edges of the treads.

I'd driven probably less than a 100 miles when I noticed it. Not at crazy speeds. The tires weren't old (figured out how to decode the serial numbers to figure out manufacture dates).

I had tortured other sets of those same Michelin PSS tires in the past. Speeds over 150mph, harsh cornering, breaking traction during upshifts under hard acceleration, dumb stuff like that. Never had a single issue with unusual tire wear, let along having the tire come apart the way it did from one winter in a cold garage.

I learned my lesson. IMO, it's better and safer to use all-seasons or else swap between summer and winter tires and always store the summer tires someplace above freezing.

Was at a dealership earlier and an SA said that the ‘24 Cayenne’s will provide all-season tires with the 22” wheels, standard. At least on the base, base hybrid, and S. He made a point of saying that was a change from the pre-refresh Cayenne.

He seemed to be both well-informed and certain, has been with that dealership for 9 years. I’ll also double check with my SA tomorrow.

So I guess that means some manufacturer will be providing N-spec 22” all-season tires for the ‘24 Cayenne with 22” wheels. Seems there may not be tons of all-season options available, though, perhaps just the one.

And it’s not clear what the performance rating of those tires will be. Might leave some top-end speed out of (safe) range for the Cayenne S and above.

Placed my order today and in the process, my SA confirmed in his system that *all* 2024 Cayenne models, except Turbo GT, come standard with all season tires. Including 22” options.

He seemed to think Porsche will have arrangements with at least two suppliers for them, which is SOP for Porsche. I went with a 22” wheel choice, so I guess I’ll know what tire it is for sure come September or so.

I think, at this point, our assumptions about that have been confirmed… at least to my satisfaction.

This is nice for 24+ MY owners. Too bad it doesn't really help us pre-24 guys. Oh well.

TBD. At some point the A/S 22” will show up for replacements (tirerack). It’s quite possible that they will spec within tolerances for use on pre 2024 9Y0 Cayennes with 22” wheels.
