Default Does a Tune void warranty

I’m sure it does, but I am curious what the real world experiences are for those of you here? I am a recent owner of a CPO 2021 GTS, The car is probably fast enough for 99% of what I need..but there is that sick part of me that would love to tune it and make it really fly. I know there are tunes out there that add significant power.

does Porsche void any engine/tranny warranty claims with a tune? I paid for the +1 CPO…that combined with the regular CPO coverage I have, my car will be under warranty for the next FIVE years. Not sure I want to jeapordize hat..unless I knew that Porsche actually looks the other way in hte event of a disaster breakdown.

I”m assuming that is not the case - and if you are tuned and then develop $$ engine problems - Porsche will sa “sorry” ad n you will apy the ill to fix i.

Or do some dealers see/know you have a tune and jus t look heheh way and let you keep it?

Curious ..

That's dealer dependent.

I won’t risk it, unless I don’t care about the warranty.

You are dealing with Germans who tend to go by the book most if not all the time!

It will 100% void the warranty if something big breaks. Dealer can't get around it as there's a counter in the ECU for how many times it's been flashed.

You paid for the +1 year CPO so you’re obviously warranty conscious. Tuning will absolutely void the warranty. Many tuned cars experience no issues but I wouldn’t take the chance. Use the search feature on this forum to find many threads on the subject.
Also, reading your posts you say “the GTS is fast..WOW” and it’s a daily driver for you and your wife. Do you live in a place where you can go faster?

These cars are wicked fast out of the box and SUVs to boot. Why f' it up with a tune for power you'll never (or rarely if ever) use? Bragging rights? I don't get it. Money down the drain IMO. Not to mention I wouldn't buy a used tuned car- it smells like abuse.

If you are in California, a tuned car will NOT pass smog. Will have to wait to see if other states adopt this.

Tune & Warranty do not belong on the same sentence. Proceed at your own risk.

Yes it’s already fast, yes it’s CPO. Yes I extended the warranty.

Who says I can’t want it faster?!?

This is my first Porsche and I wasn’t sure how Porsche dealt with tuned cars.

thx!

They can only deny warranty on things if they can "prove" (a very nebulous word in this instance it appears) that the aftermarket part (in this case, the tune) caused the failure. How that has worked out in court vis a vis tuning (or if it has even gone to court), I don't know.

The general feeling seems to be that, hey they're a big company, they have deep pockets, they will crush you if you try to fight them. Whether that feeling is based on things that have happened or if it's just a feeling I don't know.

There's downside to them going to court too. It costs them money (possibly a lot more than just doing whatever repair is required) , opens them to possibly negative publicity, and if they lose the case the doors would be wide open to tuning. I would be curious to know what has happened in court cases or if there have even been court cases around voided warranties and tuning.
