Default Adding Modified Sport Chrono Package

I have a 2023 Cayenne GTS that does not have the Sport Chrono Package. I didn’t want the analog and digital stopwatch in the center of the dash.

I want to see if I can ADD just the Mode switch on the steering wheel to select the driving modes Normal, SPORT, SPORT PLUS, and Individual and program it. This is without adding the analog and digital stopwatch.

Would love the benefits of all the functionality (especially SPORT Response Button)

I assume that all the wiring is already in steering wheel and that it would just be a matter of purchasing parts, installation & dealer coding.

I'm shocked that not all GTS's came with sport chrono. I know the coupes do.

Assuming wiring is in place may not be a sure thing. Recent discussions on heated steering wheel and heated windshield suggest neither appear to be easy solutions.

New steering wheel, electronic module (if needed) and coding is the standard procedure. Dealer or Indy shop would need to code, unless you have PIWIS and know how to do it.

That would be a bad assumption. I'm not 100% sure, but judging by swaps on other cars, you'd definitely need a new wheel and likely need a new clockspring as well. I could be wrong, but history tells me I'm likely not. Porsche is not in the habit of adding extra wiring.

I get needing a new wheel. What module and click spring would need to be replaced and why? Thank you for your input.

The clock spring is a wound-up wire (ribbon cable) inside the steering wheel that allows the airbag, horn, and steering wheel buttons (including the Sport Chrono Mode Switch) to stay connected as the steering wheel is rotated left and right.

The ribbon will need more pins to connect the Mode Switch than a similar ribbon without a Mode Switch. Not sure if the new steering wheel includes a clock spring.

I had the clock spring in my 993 replaced a couple years ago. Each time you turn the steering wheel, the wire ribbon flexes. Over the years, the wires eventually cracked and I received an airbag warning light.

Since the Cayenne is a computer with four wheels, a module to enable communication between the Mode Switch and the ECU is required. An additional module might be required. At a minimum, an existing module will need recoding.
