Default PPF or Ceramic for Cayenne S 2023

I am waiting for my 2023 Cayenne S Chromite Black Metallic (eta Dec 2022) if the Bose Amp issues don't delay it further.

1. Recommendation on PPF vs ceramic vs some combination of both. The car will be mostly driven in California.
2. Should I get it done at the Porsche dealership or at an independent shop outside (costs, quality considerations?)

Both is ideal. If you can only do one or the other, I'd go with the ceramic coating. This should never been done at the dealership, only at a qualified shop who specializes in paint correction and ceramic coatings.

The dealerships "paint coating" is just a $20 sealant that they charge $900 for.

Always get it done at an independent shop instead of the dealership, better quality. The dealership will charge you a premium and outsource it to a 3rd party installer anyway.

As far as PPF and coatings it varies based on your expectations, for me I do PPF + Ceramic on all my vehicles, they are very easy to clean and stay clean longer, and I have the extra peace of mind. From a value stand point the money I spend on PPF I do not expect to get anything in return when I sell the vehicle, you have to consider it a sunk cost, and decide whats best for your use case.

Thank you, this is very helpful. Would you recommend any specific PPF brands and what would be the estimated PPF+Ceramic costs? I am new here and want to be sure that I am not being overcharged just because I drove in with a new Porsche.

I did both at an independent shop. It made sense for me considering I drive a lot on the highway and have a black car. I did PPF on full front, over wheels and rear. Ceramic coating varies based on the timeline you are looking for.

XPEL & Suntek both are great, have used both and I do not have a preference, I would recommend to use whichever brand your installer is more comfortable using. As far as cost goes that varies by the degree of the installation and if you want a template job or wrapped edges or full custom with parts removed to have a seamless install.

Price varies by degree of installation, for a basic full car PPF + Coating 5-7K, more detailed install expect to pay significantly more. Try to look at installers previous works and see how the seams / edges look for reference.

Attached a video so you can see a more involved install with emblems removed.
