Default A/C Compressor failures?

Well this is just to know if there is anyone out there who has faced problems with their A/C compressor basically failing.

Reason I am asking is during my last visit to the dealership for the annual maintenance, they told met hey had already replaced 2 A/C compressor for these new cayennes.
my extended warranty is up in November and I am not sure I will be going for an extension, so just doing some research to help my decision.

Thanks!

Do you have any reason to believe today that your compressor is behaving out of spec?

FWIW, the compressor in my ‘19 Cayenne failed after two years. I had no AC for a month because, of course, the part had to come from Germany.

Yes, sometimes right after I start the car, when I turn the A/C on it wont blow any air until I start moving, I only noticed this lately and don't think this is normal, will get it checked for this and let you know.

Sorry to hear that.
Can you please provide more info on the failure? how did it happen ? were there any early signs? and could it be prevented?
also any idea on the cost and complexity of the A/C replacement process?

I was recently at a dealership speaking with a S/A before ordering my Cayenne. He showed me one in service that was close to my spec. The dash was removed and when I asked about the issue he said the A/C had failed. It looked like a very expensive repair if out of warranty. You never know if it’s hit or miss, it was a 21 GTS.

That’s normal on most cars on the automatic setting. It takes a few minutes for the AC to generate cool air and then it puts the fan on a higher speed. If your compressor fails you never will get cool air.

now I am really starting to consider that warranty extension.
I wonder if it is the same part used in any of the cars sisters ( Touareg , Q8 , Bentayga , Urus) and whether they are having same issue, will research that

Was blowing cold air, then suddenly blowing hot air. No warning.

it took a while to diagnose. Service looked for coolant leaks first. Then concluded it was the compressor. Under warranty, so I don’t know what the cost would have been.

Yes, after 5k miles on my new GTS Coupe, the AC completely failed and just kept blowing hot air - you couldn't even turn off the fan and it would not turn off even after exiting and locking the car!!!! Its now been at the dealer 3 weeks and still not fixed. To date, the blower motor, control board, and "relay switches" have been replaced with no luck. They claim Porsche tells them the ionizer has caused it . . . . . . I will believe when I see it.

My 2019 Cayenne has been at the dealer for two weeks to replace the evaporator. They’ve had a huge pain getting the part from Germany. It finally got to the states but has been stuck in Tennessee al week. But anyway, I had the same general issues as @sidehill described above. It would blow cool air, but some of the vents also blew hot air, like something wasn’t closing right. Anyway, they’re fixing it under warranty. Hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else out there this summer.
