Default Driver Card Battery Warning

Hi All,

I am getting this message when I switch on ignition.
I believe this relates to the tracker fob?
I don't plan on using this service so is there a way to turn it off and have the warning message removed?
I don't really want to replace the battery on something I won't use.

Thanks in advance.

Can you elaborate or post a photo? Is it the keyfob battery low warning?

Unlike the Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (PVTS) available in the USA that doesn’t use the fob, the Rest of the World has PVTS Plus, which enhances security with the separate, battery-powered fob. You must use both fobs to start your Cayenne without triggering the alarm.

Porsche advises owners to carry the driver card separately from the key fob, as vehicles are often stolen using stolen vehicle keys. Some find this cumbersome. (I would, too). If you forget to bring the driver card and start your Cayenne, the Security Operation Center will think your car is being stolen.

The “Driver Card” name presumably is a holdover from the previous fob. It had a flat card shape.

I think you need to get PVTS+ deactivated for the car or wait until the current contract lapses and don’t renew. Once out of contract, the system should ignore the requirement for the tracker fob and should no longer check the fob’s battery level.

^^^ Agree with kurand.

Until then, you may wish to change the battery to get rid of the annoying message each time you start your Cayenne. You know, one of those little “Joys of ownership” tasks. 😀 As the video below shows, it takes less than a minute and a half to change it. The new battery should last about two years.

After the battery change resets the low battery message, you can disarm the PVTS+ in the Porsche Connect app or on the my.porsche web site. Then you can just leave the driver card at home.
