Default Solved — PCM 5 Reboot and Engineering Mode

After looking at the PCM 6.0 reboot procedure HERE I tried it on the PCM 5. Sure enough, it works.
  • After pressing for a second or two as depicted, the screen goes blank for about 45 seconds, then boots to Engineering Mode
  • Don't panic when the touchscreen doesn’t work in Engineering Mode (like I did). Scroll and select using the Rotary Push Button on the center console next to the Volume Control.
  • Unfortunately, you must enter Engineering Mode from the Home Screen. It does not work from any other screen.
  • I posted a video of the complete sequence below.

Wonder how to exit engineering mode without rebooting. I accidentally entered into the engineering mode without having my update file ready. If I don't want to reboot this time, how to return to PCM standard display? Thanks.

No method that I know of. You have already rebooted into Engineering Mode. You’ll need to reboot to Normal Mode. When rebooting, DO NOT place the transmission into Reverse. This will change the screen to rear camera view and disrupt the reboot sequence.

Pls don’t shoot the messenger. I’m no techie by any means. If my PCM 5 is working just fine, is there any reason to reboot? It was updated prior to my purchase in August. I use My Porsche with no problems. Google maps is great. Hope I haven’t jinxed myself.

Thanks. I would not touch the right corner with my two fingers again before having my update file ready. I rebooted PCM and re-configure all settings. Good lesson to learn. Thanks.
