Not sure I understand exactly what to expect. To clarify, are you saying our early-build 2022 Cayennes with 6.0 PCMs (non-Spotify, b&w icons) will receive in-shop software updates to provide the new functionality without having to change the PCM hardware?
LSR,
In any of the communications I have had, there has never been any mention of changing the PCM hardware. All the focus has been on developing and testing a software update as was already the case for the Taycan with the software update from Cluster 32 to Cluster 33.
mattsrs,
I'm all over this.
I have an open case with PCNA and have been following weekly.
Here is my most recent update:
Had a call from PCNA to say they are diligently working on finalizing the update but some critical resources were focussed on Taycan issues, so this one took a back seat, so to speak. Very aware of dudes like us with hybrids who want to take advantage of enhancements to the navigation system and charging, not to mention coloured icons, native Spotify.
Smart Service will go from 5.1.32 which OTA updated on my wheels May 19th. Current lads are at 7.1.22. Other numbers are cluster 35 to 37 and version 3615 to 3776.
Once completed and ready for prime time, a campaign code will be created and become part of the Porsche in-shop (read no OTA) software update process.
Cheers
You are a legend man! Thanks for the great update. How do you keep the case open with PCNA? 2 months ago that I contacted them some lady called me and that was it. I want to stay on top of it too and I feel that more people complain/constantly ask about it, better chance of getting it out sooner.

I understand that people have shown the hardware ID of PCM 6 and PCM 6.1 is different but in practice, you don't need a new hardware to add colors to icons or add Spotify. PCM 6 itself was a major hardware upgrade from 2021
Here is the latest information I was told a few minutes ago by Tom at 1-800 PORSCHE. It's good news.
PCM 6.0 (that's what Tom called it) with b&w icons and no Spotify is "cluster 35," which is how Porsche refers to the PCM software in our PCM 6.0 cars (and also in 992s and Taycans). Porsche just last week released to its dealer network "cluster 37" (i.e., PCM 6.1 with colored icons and Spotify), but only for the Taycan. Tom said after the release for Taycan, cluster 37 will be released for the 992 and Cayenne with PCM 6.0 but he didn't know when that will occur, as his group was told only last week that cluster 37 had been released for the Taycan and that's all they were told. I asked, but Tom also didn't know, whether or how we'd be notified of the availability of the update for our cars. He said it's probably best to just call your dealer every few weeks to inquire. And, confirming other posts, there is no hardware change required.
Good timing. Users on the Taycan Forum just today started reporting successful Cluster 37 (aka ANA6) updates. Lots of problems with the update crashing and bricking the car before successful installation. This is causing delays. I understand the CEO was fired, in part, for VAG’s horrible software. 😀
Of note: The Taycan owners received a recall notice from CARFAX or the my.porsche site. I would expect a similar notice when the Cayenne update is ready.
Great info, Schnave. Thanks. If the update has actually bricked cars, I’m in no rush. Hopefully the bugs will all get sorted out by the time we’re up.
Agree. At first I was all over getting the update asap. Now after living with PCM 6 for a bit and realizing how many little quirks there are, I'll choose stability over functionality.
Glad to see they are cutting their teeth on the Taycan owners.
The ANA6 recall notice (see attachment) is to correct a software error in the PCM that causes the screen and rearview camera image of affected Taycans to remain black or flicker after the ignition is activated. Because this problem impacts the functionality of the rearview camera, which is required on US cars, the problem is being addressed by a formal NHTSA Recall. It seems likely the new software will also update the PCM to 6.1. But because ANA6 is doing more than just upgrading the car to PCM 6.1, the problems Taycan owners are reporting with the upgrade may not impact our cars. ANA6 does appear to explain, though, why Porsche is rolling out new PCM code to Taycan owners first.
Does Porsche publish PCM release notes for their builds? Curious what’s included besides colored icons and native Spotify. I assume some bug fixes based on the threads above.
In post #32 above, @Schnave posted a link to a Porsche news release outlining the changes in the update to PCM 6.1 (Porsche calls it an update to PCM 6 and does not use the 6.1 nomenclature).

Thanks.
Sort of underwhelming for those on PCM 6/Apple ecosystem. Completely understand the draw for the Android crowd.
I like the colored icons, but doesn't dramatically change the functionality. Native Spotify is nice, but with CarPlay - you effectively already have it, unless I don't understand what native provides you.
I'll hold out hope that there is a lot under the covers (bug fixes and stability) that makes this compelling.
