Default 2020 vs 2019 Cayenne

Are there any advantages for a 2020 vs a 2019 Cayenne? So far I'm not seeing a big discount on the 2019s in our area.

Wireless CarPlay in the 2020s. Pretty sure that’s all.

Good question! For those of us owning a 2019 with its various PCM bug issues, I'm wondering whether any of those bugs have been corrected in the 2020 car. Not sure how to make this comparison. Maybe first comparing the software and hardware versions of the PCM?

I have a 2019 CTT ordered and brought home 12/22/19 with 24,800 miles on the dial. I have zero PCM issues.

My 2017 PTT on the other hand had little bugs that were fixed with a software update from the dealership.

Always buy the latest model year. There are fixes, refinements, etc. that are incorporated. As a the owner of a manufacturing company I can tell you that no amount of pre-production testing can find every possible problem area. Look at Consumer Reports. The most reliable vehicles are ALWAYS the ones that have been in production for a long time. The first year of any vehicle always has poor reliability.

Over a year of daily driving my 2018 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid (more than 20k miles of driving) yielded zero problems of any consequence -- first year of the new-gen Panamera *and* first year of the new, upgraded E-Hybrid drivetrain/battery. And they don't usually camouflage cars unless there's a big change in the new version, do they? I wonder what else they might be doing in this revision...

I haven't heard any big Panamera PCM problems like those that have been reported in the new-gen Cayenne -- which I find odd; it suggests that there is something very different in the new-gen Cayenne's infotainment screen/computer than in the new-gen Panamera's screen/computer. (Is something strange going on in Bratislava vs. the builds done in Leipzig?)
I would be afraid to own it outside of warranty, though...

As of right now Consumer Reports rates the overall reliability of the 2019 Cayenne as much higher than average, their highest category. The 2019 is the only Cayenne they rate in that category. As a matter of fact, they rate the 2014, 2016 and 2017 models in their very lowest reliability category.

That whole transfer case thing likely jammed the rating for those 14-17s, understandably so.

One of the reasons I ordered a 2020 was not wanting to deal w that transfer case, otherwise there were great deals on 16-17 turbos

All 2020 Cayenne review videos that I took a look upon seemed to have regular USB ports. I forgot to take a look during my test drive. My car is on order and won't arrive until Feb-March 2020, but I'm looking for some small accessories right now. Could you confirm on the USB-C ports?

Took delivery of a UK spec E-Hybrid last week; it has USB-C sockets.

Thank you, I know Porsche wouldn’t really mess up on that, but the review videos of the 2020 base Cayenne models did look like they had regular usb sockets to me. Thank you for clarifying and happy holidays and new year!
