I just noticed that my 2020 has USB-C connectors everywhere! 2 in the front console storage and 2 in the lower rear console. The 2019s have the larger USB-A connectors.

So if you have a 2020 coming, check your cables!
USB-C vs USB-A pic below:
Um, not sure what you're trying to say. USB ports are the same on the vehicle side and other end of the cable can be USB-A, USB-C or the Apple lightning end.

The vehicle side is now a USB-C receptacle. All earlier vehicles were USB-A. It’s not complicated.

Yea, I know its not complicated but USB-A is more versatile than USB-C. I'm an Android user so its not a big deal for me but now you have to buy cables with USB-C on both ends. or USB_C and lightning on other end for apple users. They're not as readily available as USB-A to whatever end you need.

I find that USB-A cables connect more securely than USB-C. Yes, the C cables have the advantage of being able to be inserted facing up or down while the A cables can only be inserted one way. Despite that, I think in an environment with movement like a car that A connections are actually superior. I consider this a step backwards. It is very easy to find cables that are A on one end and C or lightning on the other end so this change in the vehicle was really unnecessary.

USB C as a standard is clearly more versatile than USB A.
USB C to lightening cables are hardly scarce either

I hear what you’re saying though the electronics industry is migrating to USB-C as the new standard and once everything comes with USB-C it will be nice and convenient.
