Default 'Engine cannot be started error' on E-Hybrid

Has anyone else had this error appear even when the vehicle was not plugged in? It happened twice yesterday. The plug access door is well closed. I cycled the key switch on and off a few times and the error eventually cleared....

My service advisor would say this is normal for Porsche. Squeaky brakes, miss-matched fender & body paint, sometimes no start, red screen, random reboots... all part of the experience. At least no random check engine light as was often the case in my X5.

Seriously, might be a good idea to bring it in and show your nearest Porsche center if it keeps happening. Might just be a loose wire by the plug door or something.

Had it happen to me just once, turned everything off, checked the battery door and it started. Took a while to figure out what the “vehicle plug” was.

This happened to me today. Held up the gas line for a while. Did anyone else take this to their dealership and figure out what happened?

Spoke to dealer. They said usually when that happens, just plug in the EV charger and pull it back out and that should resolve it. Obviously not possible unless I have a spare charger in my trunk when it happens. I asked them to scan it but they said if the error message is gone, scanning it won’t do anything. I have to bring it in when the light is on. That’s not going to happen because the error message only shows when the car doesn’t start. Hoping it’s just a one off electronic gremlin and doesn’t happen again.

This happened to me, the pin that pushed in on your charging port didn't pop back out properly when you unplugged your Cayenne (it is located where the EVSE handle lock connects to your vehicle). It is a mechanical fault, the head tech at my dealership knew exactly what was wrong and how to fix it. If it does it again, take it in and ask them to reset the pin.

@TXSchnee could I force service to look at this under warranty? My warranty expires next month.

I would push for it to be checked. It is a warranty item, I paid $0 to have mine reset.
