Default Is paint protection worth it on new cayenne?

Was thinking about doing frontal paint film on the car to protect from rocks and such.I was curious about how many people add this to the car?
Thanks.

I owned my previous 2011 CS for 6 plus years and didn't get the wrap. I counted only 1 slight chip on the front bumper and nothing on the hood, fenders or mirrors.
Now getting the Quartz treatment to protect the finish is something to think about.

I wouldn't have a Cayenne without the film. We have 33k on the 2016 and there are several places where the film has a ding but has protected the paint. These would all be paint chips without the film. We do a lot of highway driving so probably more susceptible. The alternative is either to become very good at fixing the chips with Dr Colorchip, getting the front repainted every so many years or trade off frequently and don't worry about it. Also the lighter silver colors don't show the chips as much.

The Cayenne is in our top 10 most popular models we protect globally. It is extremely important to prevent rock chips and scratches on your Porsche. So many Porsche owners and buyers look for quality paint during the purchase process that it's important to have clear bra installed should you ever want to sell your vehicle. Plus, the whole time you own the vehicle you get peace of mind and ease of maintenance as it's much easier to clean bird droppings, tree sap, and more off of the film.

Check out this video of our ULTIMATE PLUS Paint Protection film to get idea of the kind of abuse the film can take.

The most common package on a Cayenne is to protect the entire front end and the high impact wear and tear areas. This would be the full hood, full front fenders, front bumper, side mirrors, door cups, door edges, and luggage area. This package would typically be between $1,895 - $2,395.

I would advise against it.

I had 3 Cayennes all bought new and drove over 100K on them. Paint was fine and it didn't hurt my resale at all.

I think it depends where you live. Here in Colorado, it's essential for any car, as rocks fly up and hit the paint and windshield on a near daily basis!

I have a different perspective as a Porsche newbie.

First, the paint on our Turbo is soft, and chips / swirls / scratches easily. It’s the worst paint I’ve owned in many, many years in that regard, and I am a detail freak who knows how to prevent and mitigate swirls. My wife drives 40 miles each way to work on the interstate. We’ve already got two decent chips. So get the damned film if you highway the car.

We had several Infinitis with their factory “self-healing” clearcoat, which was heat-reactive and would flow minutely to recover from swirls and scratches. Swirls were nonexistent after five years no matter the color. I miss it already. The paint was much less susceptible to chips, too.

Even the cheap-*** Aussie paint on our Holden Chevy is better at repelling chips than our Porsche.

Porsche paint quality is the single most disappointing thing about our Cayenne, hands down. For $150K, I expected a lot better.

It depends on the road condition where you live as well. We had our 2014 Cayenne without the PPF. We just had ceramic coating applied to the car, and that was a mistake. We got a few small rock chips plus a big one. So we got Xpel ultimate plus for our 2019 Cayenne this time. We also had Xpel ultimate on our 2017 Audi Q7 and didn't have any chip after 2 plus years.

I have full car xpel on my 991 since it is so close to the ground and more prone to chips. I drove my prior Macan for 4 years and no stone chips. My wife's current Q7 is 3 years old and no stone chips. We probably will not get PPF on the Cayenne based on prior SUV experience but are considering ceramic due to black color

Thought about it but won't do it. It will be my DD on a 36 month lease. No point spending $2000.

May do ceramic coating.

I use PPF on all my new car and would never buy such a beautiful car without it! Does wonders and the newer films are hardly noticeable. However, I purchase my cars outright and keep them for awhile. If I were to lease one and turn it around every 2-3 years I probably would not purchase the PPF as some road rash should be considered normal wear and tear.

Personally, I am passing on my new Cayenne. PPF is just not effective against immobile concrete objects, other cars, garage doors, and railroad crossing arms. Just ask my wife. I am saving my money for the insurance deductible.

Kindly elaborate where you get PPF service? I recently bought my new car on lease. Should I use PPF in my new car?

Or a tank. Or perhaps a driving school. Good luck!
