Hi All,

I have just fitted today my winters on the Q7 as we are going away soon to the Alps - this tyre is the same I used at my 2016 GLE which was also on 20" alloys - Continental 255 50 20.

I have initially made up my mind to go with 21"s on the Cayenne (order due to delivery in June 19), but today at the tyre shop we've checked and my winters are still at 6.25 thread, which are fairly unused.

This lead me to think why waste this good tyres if perhaps they could fit on the Cayenne wheels for winter journeys - I usually run summers most of the year apart from when driving to the Alps for safety (and insurance reasons).

I have checked and the new Cayenne sits on

Front axle: 9J x 20 ET 50 with tyres 275 45 20
Rear axle: 10.5Jx 20 ET 64 with tyres 305 40 20

My question is: would the winters I have fit the Cayenne wheels?

The diameter is of the 255/50R20 tires is not significantly different from the diameters of the Cayenne 20" tires. The 9" rim width is appropriate for the 255/50R20 tires the front. Unfortunately 9" is the max rim width for the 255/50R20 tires. I'm not a tire expert, but I know that 10.5" is more than 9". So, I say "No, your winter tires will not fit the Cayenne rear wheels".

Thanks, that is very helpful indeed, what size would you recommend winters for rears?
