Default iCarScan PSA: Do Not Use "Restore Default Setting" for Parking Brake

So yesterday after I replaced my speed sensor, I was looking into adjusting my parking brake. Went through the menu and put it in service mode. I didn't adjust anything, but now it's stuck in service mode. I tried to calibrate but the gap is too large so it won't accept.

I then hit "Restore Default Setting" and it brings me to a menu that says something like "Start the Drive Link" NO NOT PRESS "NEXT"! It will wipe out your coding and YOU WILL LOSE PARKING BRAKE. Activating the button will not engage the parking brake and the "park" light will flash about 10 times. Obviously, I pressed "next"...

I scanned the code and this new error message showed up: C11006

My iCarScan is running the outdated Porsche software so it's missing a critical menu selection. I grabbed my Launch x431 and fired it up and noticed there's a new menu selection called "Control Unit Replacement" under "Special Function".

In this menu, there's a selection called "Write Random Code". This is for coding the parking brake. The default code on our Porsche Cayenne Base and probably all Cayennes that don't have the PCCB brake option is 01030100. I had to get this number off of another Cayenne. Mine was defaulted to 00000000 after I hit "Restore Default Setting".

I hope this information is helpful to someone out there. The iCarScan is a powerful tool so just be careful.

Just realized title is too long: MODS, please just remove ""Special Function">"

Thanks!

Good warning. And I'll redo the title.

I've seen similar in BMW coding, there is something like "code/restore default settings" seems innocent enough, right? If you click it it wipes everything out and your car is basically bricked unless you have a backup file to restore to or you have it towed to BMW to have the software reinstalled. Glad you got working again.

I just adjusted the parking brake shoes. Just FYI, you can get to the adjusters by removing the wheel and putting a flat screwdriver into the lug hole at 3 o'clock on rear right and 9 o'clock on the rear left side. Turn towards the front to tighten and the rear to loosen.

You will have to calibrate the parking shoes afterwards with a scan tool if you put the parking brake into service mode. It's gonna require you driving at 8mph with your parking brake on. I had to do this 3 times before the calibration was finally accepted by the module.

Your neighbors are either gonna warn you that your parking brakes are on or they will look at you funny .

There's even a PDF listed on the NHTSA regarding the parking brake calibration.

Cant thank you enough buddy. my mechanics were total novice about Porsche and i don't have access to any alternative in a fairly large distance . Just one of the challenges of owning a Porsche in india. In short the tech while trying to get rid of the code saying parking brake in service position some ho managed to activate this coding error too !! the menu for writing the random code was a bit different in his launch scanner but i eventually got it and it was exactly as you described.. after putting the coding value the calibration process was also got completed in second attempt. al errors gone and complete peace of mind now!!

Good morning friends, I need guidance with a DTC, the C120AC is given to me by the PSM module of a PORSCHE 911 (991) 2014, for this reason the skidding system stopped working.

Google shows nothing for "C120AC Porsche". Can you provide some more detail?

I suspect you'll get better responses to this question if: (1) you posted it in the correct forum - it's a 911 not a Cayenne 958 (2) you started a new thread with your question and used a decent "subject" explaining what you're searching for.

Good luck!

friends that problem or DTC I looked for it in google but it only gives me information showing how it works when the PSM is working that the vehicle does not skid.

The problem I have is with DTC C120AC and in the scanner it says: check the contents of the fault memory of the rear axle steering control unit. Of course the skid indicator light on the instrument cluster is on.
